Bodyshop Workshop Supervisor

To provide effective leadership, direction, and motivation for all body shop workshop staff.
To effectively maintain company standards of productivity, profitability, and quality.

Task Breakdown:
  • Ensure timely, thorough, and accurate completion of body repairs for delivery to customers.
  • To provide superior customer service to all customers/clients at all times, ensuring that concerns are quickly resolved.
  • Dispatch all work assignments to workshop personnel. Assign work to the appropriate technician relative to his or her abilities (low-skilledhigh-skilled, etc.)
  • Always review the Work Order with the technician prior to starting the repairs to identify any necessary corrections or supplemental items, all parts are on hand to start the repair and to ensure accurate and consistent communication.
  • Participate in the daily Team meeting.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with company standards of quality and safety.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationship with employees and other departments.
  • Ensure that tools and equipment are secured and maintained in good working condition and advise management of equipment requirement to improve productivity, efficiency and quality of repairs.
  • Supervise the maintenance of a clean, tidy, and safe working environment, ensuring that housekeeping is maintained and security procedures that result in a safe and attractive work environment for customers and staff.
  • Continually inspect the work in progress to spot any additional repairs necessary that were missed on the original estimate. Notify the appropriate person immediately of any additional damage so that a supplemental estimate can be prepared.
  • To oversee the upkeep of the tool room.
  • Conduct regular shop meetings with all workshop staff and devote a portion of the time to training and education.
  • Manage the workshop staff's time-off for vacation and personal leave, so that it does not restrict the ability of the shop to meet standard production goals.
  • Monitor the individual performance of the workshop staff on a regular basis. Pay particular attention to those individuals whose performance exceeds their standards or those employees who fall below standard. Either situation should be recognized promptly. Always recognize good performance in public and poor performance in private.
  • Manage department expenses effectively.
  • Frequently inspect the work in progress to identify any special repair problems and to verify that the quality meets or exceeds company standards, especially prior to entering the paint shop and prior to customer delivery.
  • To perform any duties which may or may not be related to the above as requested by Management.

Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • 5 O-level subjects including Mathematics and English.
  • Tertiary Level certification.
  • Proven experience in a similar field and exposure to supervision.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Analytical Skills and the ability to multitask while observing deadlines and forecasts.
  • Excellent Communication (oral/written) and Interpersonal Relationship Skills.
  • Computer literate with applications and software i.e., Windows/Excel/Access/Outlook.
