Facilities Technician – Electrical/ Refrigerant

Job Summary of Role:
Ensures the smooth operation and proper maintenance of all electrical equipment, machinery, and systems, including air conditioning (AC) units and other mechanical equipment at all Facilities/properties.

Responsibilities:

Replaces blown or defective fluorescent tubes.
Replaces defective ballast for lighting fixtures.
Test runs, inspects, and services generators and Air conditioning units, replacing defective parts as necessary.
Installs lighting fixtures and checks security lighting as necessary.
Cleans and services load center panels.
Maintains or replaces electrical meter sockets as necessary.
Tests and maintains electrical equipment, AC units, appliances, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
Diagnoses malfunctioning systems and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
Installs, repairs, and maintains air conditioning systems, ensuring proper function and efficiency.
Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
Tests electrical systems and equipment to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
Reads blueprints and follows a plan layout to install electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on the job specifications and codes.
Installs ground leads and connects power cables to equipment, such as motors and air conditioning units.
Ensures personal and public safety since all work done affects the general public.
Installs and connects electrical wiring between controls and equipment according to wiring diagrams, using electrician's hand tools.
Assembles, installs, tests, and maintains electrical equipment, fixtures, and HVAC systems.
Coordinates and executes projects assigned.
Performs supervisory duties in the absence of the relevant supervisor/foreman.
Assists in all other departments as the need may arise.
Performs any other duties as assigned by Management.

Competencies:

Ability to communicate well in both oral and written forms.
Ability to recognize problems where they occur in related areas and suggest solutions.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

High School Graduating Certificate or equivalent.
At least three (2) years’ experience in Electrical Maintenance.
Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Installation from an approved body, or a certificate from the Government’s Electrical Inspectorate.
Passes in at least three (3) subjects at GCE/CXC level, including English Language and Mathematics.
Working knowledge of electrical installation, maintenance, control, fitting, assembly, and repair of electrical machinery, equipment, and air conditioning systems.
