Junior Network Administrator
The Junior Network Administrator supports the setup, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of the organization's network systems. Working under the guidance of senior IT staff, this role assists in ensuring reliable and secure network connectivity across a group of companies.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist in the setup, configuration, and basic support of LAN, Wi-Fi, WAN, and related network environments.
- Support the supervisor in gathering data for network assessments and documenting findings.
- Help monitor network performance and report irregularities to senior team members.
- Contribute to regular status updates on network operations, noting key issues or progress.
- Learn to track basic network performance and security metrics under supervision.
- Assist in testing and validating network changes, including end-user feedback collection.
- Collaborate with IT team members to troubleshoot network issues and enhance service delivery.
- Follow project schedules and assist with routine maintenance tasks.
- Work with internal and external partners to identify network needs and implement solutions.
- Respond to network support tickets and escalate issues as needed to appropriate personnel.
- Regularly travel to various company locations across Jamaica, and as required.
- Support cybersecurity awareness and compliance efforts within the network team.
- Gain experience working with various networking and communication devices.
- Maintain regular communication with supervisors to stay aligned with team objectives.
- 1–2 years of experience in an IT support or network-related role (internship or entry-level experience acceptable).
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Actively pursuing or holding a CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA certification (or equivalent). CompTIA Security+ or other relevant certifications would be an asset.
- Willingness to support IT personnel and end users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
