Technical Support Specialist

The Technical Support Specialist provides technical supervision, advice, and support to the team, checking and testing repair jobs as stipulated by the dealership and ATL’s Standard Operating Procedures. He/She extends technical advice to internal and external customers as required to ensure satisfaction, in addition to monitoring the timekeeping of Technicians.

Task Breakdown:
  • Assist Technicians with any advanced technical diagnosis (when required).
  • Assist technicians with any advanced technical repairs (when required).
  • Ensure/Conducts Road Tests on all vehicles where technical repair has been completed.
  • Track the recall completion rate for the respective brands.
  • Organize any recall within Jamaica for their respective brands.
  • Liaise with service Advisors where technical questions have been asked.
  • Assist the workshop Controller with any loading of technical repairs to the workshop.
  • Ensure all diagnosis/technical repairs have been checked on the manufacturer's website for known issues with Technicians.
  • Ensure quality control forms are completed and sent to the respective Technical Assistant when required, as per the brand standards.
  • Submit DISS/EPQR/Hotline forms where necessary for the respective brands.
  • Create and manage special tools inventory and submit new tools to be signed off by the manager.
  • Ensure that all special tools/equipment are serviceable and in good repair, then hand over to the Workshop Controller.
  • Carry out a weekly toolbox check for all Technicians that are working with their respective brand.
  • Responsible for the monitoring of technicians' timekeeping.
  • Oversee the technician's timekeeping and punctuality.
  • Oversee the technicians' productivity and efficiency.
  • Update Technicians on any service bulletin, news, or SOPs from the Manufacturer.
  • Ensure work in progress is updated with the latest repair information on the relevant stipulated platform.
  • Perform random work order audits.
  • Assist with any other duties required by the Department.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • 5 O-level subjects, inclusive of mathematics and English.
  • Tertiary Level certification.
  • Brand-specific certification.
  • Local or International Certifications in Auto-technician or Engineering.
  • Valid Driver’s License (preferably General).
  • Analytical Skills and the ability to multitask while observing deadlines and forecasts.
  • At least 4 yrs’ experience in dealership and manufacturing positions and or Accident and repairs. One of which should be at the supervisory level.
  • Excellent Communication (oral/written) and Interpersonal Relationship Skills
  • Computer Literate with application and software, i.e. , Windows/Excel/Access/Outlook.
  • Be available outside normal work hours to advise on customer technical queries (where applicable).
