Accounting Clerk

The Accounting Clerk is responsible for supporting the finance team with daily accounting tasks, with a focus on income audit reconciliation and accounts payable. This role ensures the timely and accurate recording of financial transactions, compliance with internal controls, and smooth processing of vendor payments.

Responsibilities:
Income Audit Reconciliation
  • Review and reconcile daily sales reports with receipts to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Proactively identify and collaborate with operations to resolve discrepancies in reported income. Report unusual or difficult issues to the Supervisor.
  • Ensure all revenues are accurately recorded and supported by documentation.
  • Monitor and verify transactions posted to general ledger accounts.
  • Calculate and prepare weekly and monthly commission reports for supervisor review.
  • Maintain an organized filing system of audit trails and supporting documentation.
Accounts Payable
  • Process vendor invoices, ensuring proper approval and coding to appropriate expense accounts.
  • Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices (three-way matching).
  • Prepare payment batches for approval, ensuring compliance with payment terms.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and reconcile vendor statements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable records.
  • Assist with month-end closing by providing necessary accruals and payables reports.
General Duties and Administrative Support
  • Assist in preparing schedules for financial reporting.
  • Perform regular filing of financial documents, invoices, receipts, and supporting records.
  • Maintain organized records for audits and internal reviews.
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding financial matters.
  • Actively participate in departmental meetings to contribute insights and updates.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by management to support the financial operations of the organization.
Qualifications and Job Requirements:
  • Associate's or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage interdepartmental communication.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Strong communication skills.
